Buying Vehicles: New Consumer Protection

Beginning December 31, 2011, Manitoba car dealers must provide consumers with information about a vehicle’s history. This includes information such as: prior damage by fire or flood, former use as a taxi, police car or rental car or whether it was written off or had significant repairs done.

This information has to be clearly written in the sales contract and you should be told about it before you sign.

Consider buying from a registered dealer.

Avoid curbsiders – imposters who pose as private individuals but are actually in the business of selling damaged or defective cars to unsuspecting consumers.

Private citizens selling their own vehicle are not required to disclose information about the vehicle’s history.

Buying from a registered dealer provides increased consumer protection.

The Dilawri Group’s Back to School Charity Drive

This year the Dilawri Group and its employees raised money for schools in Winnipeg. Employees were asked to donate a small amount from their payroll deposits in which Ashok Dilawri matched dollar for dollar.

The end result: $6,253

Two Schools that benefited from the donation were George V and Salisbury Morse. Each school plans on using the funds differently. George V hopes to purchase smart boards and iPads for their Early Years Project. Whereas Salisbury Morse is hoping to help more students get involved with their spring play.

Hopefully we receive an invite!

Santa’s Convoy Heads to Winnipeg Harvest

There was far too much holiday cheer to fit in only one sleigh, so Santa had to bring an entire convoy with him.

After a month of collecting food for Winnipeg Harvest the Dilawri Group delivered over 1,200 pounds of non-perishable food items. Over the last month Automax and every other store in the Dilawri Group filled a vehicle in their showroom with donations for Winnipeg Harvest collected from both staff members and customers.

On Monday December 19, 2011 the Dilawri Group’s very own Santa lead the convoy of vehicles to Winnipeg Harvest and dropped off the results of their hard work just in time for Christmas.

We’d like to thank everyone who participated in the Dilawri Feeds Winnipeg campaign. Next year let’s double the amount of food we raised.

Never heard of Google+ before? That’s totally fine too. Google+ is Google’s new social media site and it’s designed to make connecting on the web more like connecting in the real world. It’s similar to Facebook but with some new features such as the ability to share things with certain circles of friends and not others.

Automax is proud to support Winnipeg Harvest

It’s the time of year where the spirit of giving is stronger than ever and the Dilawri family including the Automax Pre-Owned Supercentre will be accepting Winnipeg Harvest donations. We have a 2011 Ford Mustang in our showroom that we are determined to fill by December 15, 2011.

Once each store in the Dilawri Group has filled their respective vehicles we plan to form a convoy to deliver them to Winnipeg Harvest with our very on “Santa” leading the way.

We’re asking our staff to give what they can but we’d also love to get our customers involved in the cause. Feel free to bring any non-perishable food items to our store over the next several weeks.
